Tierce

Term (also Tierze, Tiercon, Tierzon) for a liquid measure or also a barrel type (Tiercon). The volume was 159.113 litres in England and 158.987 litres in the USA. However, slightly different volumes were also used in various countries. It was mainly used for wine, brandy and vinegar, but also honey. Two tierces correspond to a puncheon and six to a tun.
