Negative description for the overall impression (also low-bodied, flat, weak-breasted, lacking in substance) in the context of a wine review or wine evaluation. Such a wine has little body, little extract and hardly any flavour and often tastes watery. However, this is not a synonym for a light (low-alcohol) wine, as a thin wine is also poor in substance and structure despite its low alcohol content. Related terms are emaciated, brittle, bland and hollow.
