Thalloczy Lajos

The white grape variety is a new cross between Sicily x Muscat d'Alexandrie according to DNA analyses carried out in 2013. The Foster's White Seedling given as the parent variety in the breeding list turned out to be wrong. Synonyms are Mathiász 138, Muscat Louis Thallocsy, Muscat Thalloczy Lajos, Thallocsy Lajos Muskotaly and Thalloczy Lajos Muskotaly. The cross was made in 1911 in Hungary by the breeder János Mathiász. The variety was a crossing partner of the new varieties Alföld 100, Gloria Hungaria, Kocsis Irma and Olimpia. The vine is used as table grape; the berries have a muscat tone. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
