The white grape variety originates from Azerbaijan. The 90 or so synonyms indicate the vine's great age and once widespread distribution. Some of them are Adreouli, Elizavetpolsky, Gandjouri, Kirovabadski Stolovji (and similar), Shakhskyi, Shiradzouli Belyi, Tabriz, Tabrizeni, Tabrizi, Tabrizy, Tavrisi, Tigva, Tivda, Tigvoasa and White Shira Grape. Despite seemingly suggestive synonyms or morphological similarities, it must not be confused with the Moldavian variety Tigvoasa. The parentage is unknown. The variety is used as a winepress and table grape. No stock was reported in 2010 (Kym Anderson).
