Taminga

The white grape variety is a new cross between Merbein 29-56 (Planta Pedralba x Sultana) x Roter Traminer (Gewürztraminer). The cross was made in 1970 at the CSIRO Institute in Merbein-Australia by A. J. Antcliff. Plant variety protection was granted in 1982. The late-ripening, high-yielding vine is resistant to drought. It produces aromatic, acidic white wines and is also used as table grape. The variety is cultivated in the regions of South Australia (Riverland), New South Wales and Victoria (Swan Hill) in very small quantities. In 2016, a total of only slightly more than one hectare of vines was reported (Kym Anderson statistics).
