Sweet Black

The red grape variety probably comes from Germany. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2016, it originates from a presumably natural cross between Savagnin (Traminer) x unknown partner. It was a parent of the varieties Affenthaler, Schwarzer Heunisch and Tauberschwarz by presumably natural crossbreeding. In 2016 no stocks were recorded (Kym Anderson). Sweet black is also a synonym for the varieties Béclan, Blauer Silvaner and Pinot Noir.
