This colloquial term is used negatively as "(unpleasantly) slightly sweet", "softly sentimental and slipping into kitschiness", and as a synonym for artificial, overloaded, fake and unnatural. In connection with the description of a food or drink, it means "slightly sweet". In the context of a wine description the term is used rather pejoratively. However, in contrast to sweet (semi-sweet) or sweet, it is not relevant in terms of wine law. So-called Coca-Cola wines (mainstream wines) often have a sweet or fruity taste.
