Swab Thomas

The winery is located in the municipality of Thüngersheim (Maindreieck area) in the German wine growing region of Franconia. For generations the coat of arms of the family business has depicted the local part of Thüngersheim, the archangel Michael. The former mixed agricultural enterprise was completely converted to viticulture by Gregor and Barbara Schwab in 1974. Since 1990 it has been managed by Thomas and Andrea Schwab. The vineyards comprise 10.5 hectares of vineyards in the individual sites Johannisberg and Scharlachberg. They are planted with the white wine varieties Müller-Thurgau, Riesling, Silvaner, Bacchus, Kerner perle and Morio-Muscat as well as the red wine varieties Spätburgunder, Blauer Portugieser and Dornfelder. Depending on the type of wine, the wines are aged in steel tanks or barriques. A special feature are Bocksbeutel bottlings in special sizes. In years with suitable weather conditions, an ice wine is also pressed. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced. The winery is a member of the VDP.
