Sustainable Wine South Africa

An association (abbreviation SWSA) of four institutions related to the production of wine in South Africa, founded in 2010. The Wine and Spirit Board (WSB) is the governmental control body for the analytical and organoleptic testing of quality wines with guarantee of origin. Integrated Production of Wine (IPW) is a set of guidelines established in 1998 regarding KIP (Controlled Integrated Production) in viticulture. The Biodiversity & Wine Initiative (BWI) is a South African initiative based on the globally active conservation organisation World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) with the aim of preventing further loss of habitats and preserving biodiversity (species diversity). Wines of South Africa (WoSA) is an association of around 500 South African wine producers who export their products. SWSA's objective is the sustainable, environmentally friendly production of wines.

The well-known black and white Wine-of-Origin quality seal "Certified Gesertifiseer", introduced by the Wine and Spirit Board and still in use, guarantees the following:
