Single location in the municipality of Heidelberg (Badische Bergstrasse area) in the German Baden growing region. It is separated by the Neckar river valley opposite Heidelberg Castle. It is said that Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832) said that this is the most beautiful vineyard in Germany. The steeply terraced vineyard facing southwest with a 30 to 60% slope only covers 1.4 hectares of vineyard area. The soils are divided into two different formations with coloured stone weathering and granite weathering soil. The varieties Riesling andPinot Noir are cultivated. The site is protected from cold winds by a forest. The vineyards Clauer Jörg and Müller Adam have a share in the vineyard.
