Stone Valley

The winery is located in the municipality of Klingenberg (Mainviereck area) in the German wine growing region of Franconia. The traditional company was founded in 1912. Benedikt Baltes is responsible for the operation and cellar. The vineyards cover 13 hectares of vineyards, mostly on red sandstone terraced slopes in the individual locations of Schlossberg (Klingenberg) and Bischofsberg (Großheubach). They are planted withPinot Noir, Blauer Portugieser and other red wine varieties as well as the white wine varieties Müller-Thurgau and Riesling. The main objective is to produce wines with varietal and site character. The grapes, which are harvested 100% by hand, are consistently vinified traditionally. Quality criteria are low yields, long maceration periods, long barrel maturation in large wooden barrels made of local oak, avoidance of additives such as pure yeasts and the unfiltered bottling of the wines. The label is adorned with famous historical copper engravings from the 17th century, which were made in Klingenberg, the former seat of the electoral winery. The winery has been a member of the VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates) since 1975.
