The Austrian wine expert and wine critic Professor Dr. Rudolf Steurer (1924-2013) studied at the University of World Trade in Vienna. He is the author of widely acclaimed wine books with a total circulation of over 250,000 copies and the author of numerous specialist articles. His "Wine Handbook" in particular, which has already been published in several editions, has become a standard work for winegrowers and other specialists as well as for wine lovers under the term "Der Steurer". Further books by him are "European Wine Almanac" with co-author Dr. Wolfgang Thomann, "World Wine Almanac" with co-authors Dr. Josef Schuller (MW) and Dr. Wolfgang Thomann, as well as the "Austrian Wine Guide" written with Dr. Viktor Siegl, with 6,650 addresses and 2,250 descriptions of wineries. With the same co-author, the publication of the periodic work "Die besten Weine Österreichs" (The best wines of Austria) based on the results of the most important national and international competitions has been carried out since 1997.
