The winery, located in Pastorushaus, is situated in the municipality of Sommerhausen (Maindreieck area) in the German wine-growing region of Franconia. It was founded in 1916 by Karl Steinmann. Viticulture as the main focus was then pursued by his son Karl from 1960 onwards, who was also the mayor of Sommerhausen for many years. His son Artur Steinmann took over the business in 1982. A hotel with conference facilities is attached. The vineyards cover 17 hectares in the single vineyard sites Kapellenberg (Frickenhausen), as well as Ölspiel and Steinbach (Sommerhausen). They are planted with the white wine varieties Müller-Thurgau, Silvaner, Riesling, Bacchus and Traminer, as well as Pinot Noir. Natural, environmentally friendly viticulture is consistently practised. The wines are vinified in a fruity and fresh style. Every year, 120,000 bottles of wine are produced. Wines dating back to the 1950s are stored in the treasure chamber. The winery is a member of the Frank & Frei winegrowers' association.
