Steingrubler

One of the Alsace (Haut-Rhin) sites classified as Grand Cru within the Alsace Grand Cru appellation. The name derives from the sand pits that have been attested here since the 13th century. The vineyards cover 23 hectares of vines at an altitude of 280 to 350 metres above sea level on calcareous and sandy marl soil in the municipality of Wettolsheim. They are planted with the varieties Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Gris. Well-known producers are Barmès-Buecher, Jean Butterlin, Robert Diestrich, Albert Mann and Wunsch & Mann.
