The winery is located in the municipality of Klöch, 9 kilometres north of Bad Radkersburg in the Styrian wine-growing region of Vulkanland Steiermark (Austria). Its roots go back to Ludwig Schöffl (1910-2008), who dedicated himself to viticulture for over 70 years and left a lasting mark on the business with his uncompromising pursuit of quality. For his commitment to Styrian viticulture, he was awarded the Golden Medal of Honour for Services to the Province of Styria in 1995. Kurt Steiner (1960-2023) and his wife Daniela founded the winery in its current form on this foundation in 2008 and named it VINEA VOLCANIA LUDOVICI in homage to Ludwig Schöffl. Since 2024, the business has been run by son-in-law Christoph Ettinger.
