Wine-growing area in the Muntenia region of central southern Romania. Wine-growing in this area was mentioned in a letter by the Greek historian Diodorus Siculus (first half of the 1st century BC). The most common grape varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon, Fetească Albă, Fetească Neagră, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Tamîioasa(Muscat Blanc), Muscat Ottonel and Riesling Italian(Welschriesling). Mainly DOC quality wines are produced.
