Frequently used material for the production of stainless steel tanks in various sizes (volumes), which are used for the fermentation, storage and ageing of wines. Stainless steel contains a high proportion of chromium and usually also nickel, molybdenum and titanium. On the surface, the chromium forms a dense, stable layer with the oxygen in the air (so-called passive layer), which protects the contained iron from corrosion and makes the tank almost indefinitely durable. Stainless steel containers are now considered the standard in winemaking, as they enable consistently high quality, maximum control and great flexibility in the production of a wide variety of wine styles.

Stainless steel tanks are used in almost all areas of modern winemaking. They are often used for the temperature-controlled fermentation of white and rosé wines in particular, in order to preserve fruity aromas and prevent unwanted oxidation. Many red wines are also fermented in stainless steel tanks, especially if a fresh, fruit-orientated style is desired....
