Term for the curved longitudinal boards (staves) of vats, buckets or barrels made of wood, which form the walls. In viticulture, fine-pored, densely grown oak wood is preferably used for the barrels. They are not sawn, but split along the natural fibres of the wood. They then have to dry for a long time. In the past, the staves were made by the stave maker, who delivered the staves to the cooper, who then put them together. shorter staves, which are hung in a wine ageing container as an alternative for barrique ageing, are known as "inner staves". If I were to rate websites, you would deserve the highest rating. It is rare to come across websites that provide such a large amount of data and are still so intuitive to use. Respect for the lovingly researched and informatively prepared encyclopedia. Keep it up!
