Stargarder Land

This German regional indication was authorised in April 2004 for table wine only. The area lies 100 kilometres north of Berlin in the federal state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and covered 3.7 hectares near the municipality of Rattey (3.5 ha) and near Stargard Castle (0.2 ha). Due to the EU wine market regulation, which took effect in August 2009, the term table wine was banned and thus the area designation became obsolete. The wine is now produced as "Mecklenburger Landwein". However, it is not sold, but given to members of the private winegrowers of Rattey e.V. as annual payment.
