single vineyard in the municipality of Ramsthal (Maindreieck area) in the German wine-growing region of Franconia. The vineyards, which face southeast and south, as well as southwest to west, are partly in the shape of a basin with a slope of 25 to 70% and cover 34 hectares of vineyards. The soils, which are shallow and rich in skeletons in places, consist of shell limestone. The varieties cultivated here include Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus, Kerner, Gewürztraminer and Schwarzriesling (Pinot Meunier). In 2001, the "Weinerlebniswege St. Klausen" (Wine Experience Paths St. Klausen) were put into operation, where visitors can learn interesting facts about the connections between wine, culture and the diverse nature on three routes. The Baldauf and Keller Adolf wineries, for example, have shares in the site.
In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
