St. Cyriakusstift

single vineyard in the municipality of Worms (Wonnegau area) in the German wine-growing region of Rheinhessen. It is named after the Catholic saint and winegrower patron saint Cyriacus, who was executed as a martyr in Rome in 309. In 847, his bones were transferred from Rome to a church dedicated to St. Dionysius in Worms-Neuhausen, which was rededicated as a monastery by Bishop Samuel of Worms (840-856). This was now given the new name St. Cyriakusstift. The east-facing vineyard is located in the centre of Worms and covers only one hectare of vineyards on gravelly loam.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
