St. Andrew's cross

Cross (lat. crux decussata) with two diagonally crossing beams in the shape of an X after the Greek letter "Chi". The name refers to Apostle Andrew, brother of Peter, who was crucified on such a cross in 60 AD in Patras(Greece). The St. Andrew's cross is an ancient Christian symbol for wine. The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
