Italian quality or certification system (Sistema Qualità Nazionale di Produzione Integrata) for Integrated Production (KIP) in sustainable agriculture The quality system is recognised at European level (Reg. EC 1974/2006). The ministerial seal for "Sustainable Quality" is represented by a bee. The certificate is issued on the basis of checks on the farmer's records and chemical tests of the soil, leaves and end products. The aim is to preserve the biodiversity (biological diversity) of the environment, minimise the use of pesticides and ensure proper cellar management. The use of synthetic chemicals is to be minimised.and fertilisation optimised at the same time. Every bottle of wine marketed is fully traceable, ensuring that the product comes only from SQNPI-controlled vineyards. See also under Organic Viticulture.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
