The winery is located in the municipality of Oestrich in the German wine-growing region of Rheingau. The winery is rich in tradition and can look back on a wine-growing history dating back to 1641. Since 1997, it has been run by the brothers Andreas and Bernd Spreitzer. The vineyards cover 17 hectares in the single vineyard sites Doosberg and Lenchen (Oestrich), Jesuitengarten (Winkel) and Wisselbrunnen (Hattenheim). The vineyards are planted with Riesling (97%) and Pinot Noir (the remainder). Natural, environmentally friendly viticulture is practised with intensive cover crop of every second vine row. Grain is sown in winter. The vines are only slightly pruned in order to reduce yields. Great importance is attached to phyiosologically ripe grapes, which are in principle harvested by selective hand-picking.
