Spreader Andreas & Bernd

The winery is located in the municipality of Oestrich in the German Rheingau wine region. The tradition-rich enterprise can look back on a wine-growing history to the year 1641. Since 1997 it has been managed by the brothers Andreas and Bernd Spreitzer. The vineyards comprise 17 hectares of vineyards in the individual locations Doosberg and Lenchen (Oestrich), Jesuit garden (Winkel) and Wisselbrunnen (Hattenheim). They are 97% planted with Riesling, the small remainder with Pinot Noir. We practice close-to-nature, environmentally friendly viticulture with intensive greening of every second row of vines. Grain is sown in winter. The vines are only slightly pruned in order to reduce the yield. With the exclusively hand-picked grapes, great importance is attached to optimal ripeness. The wines are vinified in the vaulted cellar built in 1743. After a whole grape pressing, slow fermentation takes place in wooden barrels or in temperature-controlled steel tanks. Among the premium wines are the First Crops. In the Lenchen vineyard, the owners' grandfather harvested a Trockenbeerenauslese with 303 °Oechsle in 1920. The Spätlese is named "303" after this. In years with suitable weather conditions, Trockenbeerenauslese and Eiswein are also pressed. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced. The winery is a member of the associations Charta Rheingau and VDP (Verband deutscher Prädikatsweingüter).
