In Austria, alternative designation for sprayed (also G'spritzter) under wine law. The term may also be used in conjunction with the name of a fruit as a compound term for flavoured drinks. These include strawberry spritzer, aperol spritzer, (aperol = bitter liqueur), triple spritzer (white wine, soda/mineral water, herbal lemonade), currant spritzer, Kaiserspritzer and peach spritzer.

However, the name is not protected and is also used in other German-speaking countries, such as Germany, with regional variations for different mixed drinks. Wine and/or fruit wine is mixed with fruit concentrates, liqueur and lemonades and sprayed with soda water or mineral water. See also other products under mixed wine drinks and special wines.
