There are numerous types of wine, as well as sparkling wine and distillate types made from wine, whose designations and production processes are clearly regulated by wine law. One of these is the wine designation law, which regulates the designation of wines within the European Union. In addition, there are many other wines and alcoholic beverages with imaginative names. However, most of the names listed below do not have a legal meaning in wine terms, but only a local or colloquial meaning and may not appear on a bottle label for reasons of consumer protection.
