This white grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Golden Muscat x Maréchal Foch. Synonyms are Sovereign 166 and Summerland 166. It contains genes from Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in Canada in 1966 by the breeder Donald V. Fisher. It is grown in the Cumberland area. In 2016, three hectares of vines were designated (Kym Anderson statistics).
