Sonnenhang

single vineyard in the municipality of Ingelheim (Bingen area) in the German wine-growing region of Rheinhessen. The southwest-facing vineyards with 5 to 10% slopes cover 88 hectares of vines. The soils consist of loess, limestone and sandy loam. They have a good water storage capacity. The varieties cultivated here are Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Noir, Blauer Portugieser and Frühburgunder. The vineyards Gräff & Schmitt, J. Mett and Schloss Westerhaus, for example, have shares in the site. There are other individual vineyards called Sonnenhang in the Rhine-Hessian municipalities of Eimsheim, Guntersblum and Schornsheim.
