The use of terms referring to an agricultural or wine-growing business may be regulated by the member states of the European Union themselves. In Austria, the following guideline applies to the use of the terms winery and winemaker on the label: The possibility of use is given when wine is produced in an in-house cellar from grapes from own managed areas including lease.
