Soap tone

Formerly a typical phenomenon with younger cognacs. It is caused by the boiling (burning) of the yeast when distilled with wood or charcoal. The unwanted clay only decomposes again after longer storage. With wine, soap clay is a synonym for UTA (untypical ageing clay).
