The white grape variety originates from Greece. Synonyms are Skiadopoylo, Zachara, Zacharo (reference to the sugar-rich berries), Zahara and Zakynthino. However, it must not be confused with the variety Zakynthino. It is a colour mutation of the red Fokiano variety. The variety is used on the island of Zakynthos in the traditional wine Verdea. However, no stock was reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
