Sibirkovy

The white grape variety originates from Russia. Synonyms are Efremovsky, Sibirek and Sibirkovyi. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2018, it originates from a presumably natural cross between Coarnă Alba x unknown partner. The variety was a crossing partner in the new variety Stepnyak. The medium-maturing vine is susceptible to downy mildew and sensitive to frost and drought. It produces aromatic white wines with flavours of thyme, green apples, citrus and peaches. The variety is grown along the Don River in the southwestern Rostov region on the border with Ukraine. However, no stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
