The red grape variety (also New York 4272, NY 4272) is an interspecific new variety between Herbert x Worden. It contains genes from Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in 1903 by the breeder S. A. Beach at the Vine Breeding Institute of Cornell University in Geneva, New York State. The variety is used as wine grape and table grape. In 2016, 500 hectares of vines were planted in South Korea (Kym Anderson).
