The Franz Zottlöderer winery is located in the municipality of Strass im Strassertale in the Lower Austrian wine growing region of Kamptal. The company was one of the first in Austria to focus on barrique ageing. The vineyards cover eight hectares of vineyards in the renowned Gaisberg, Hasel, Sandgrube and Wechselberg vineyards on loess, loam, primary rock, gravel and heavy calcareous soils. They are planted to 80% with the white varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Chardonnay, Neuburger, Pinot Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc, and 20% with the red varieties Blauer Portugieser and Zweigelt. The wine is traditionally matured in large wooden barrels and in barriques. The main focus is on varietal and regionally typical wines with ageing potential. Among the premium wines are Neuburger Strasser Gaisberg, Chardonnay Strasser Wechselberg, Riesling Strasser Gaisberg, Grüner Veltliner Strasser Gaisberg and Grüner Veltliner Strasser Hasel. Fine spirits (grapes, marc, fruit, wine) are also produced. In addition, bottle-fermented Riesling sparkling wines are also produced. The vinotheque offers wines dating back to the 1960 vintage.
