Seyve-Villard 12-375

Synonym or cultivar no. (also SV 12-375) for the grape variety Villard Blanc; see there.

The white grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Seibel 6468 (Seibel 4614 x Seibel 3011) x Seibel 6905 (Subereux). Synonyms are 12-375 Seyve-Villard, 12-375 SV, Eger 2, Seyve-Villard 12-375 and SV 12-375, which contain genes from Vitis berlandieri, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in France by Bertille Seyve (1864-1939) at the Seyve-Villard vineyard in Saint-Vallier (Département Drôme) in south-east France. Alongside the Seyval Blanc variety, it was one of the most successful varieties there.
