Named after the town of the same name, this AOC is located in the north of the Savoie wine-growing region above Lac de Bourget ( France's largest lake). The vineyards cover 100 hectares of vines on steep slopes of the upper Rhône. The white wine is made purely from Roussette (Altesse). The AOC Seyssel Mousseux applies to bottle-fermented sparkling wines made from Molette, Chasselas and at least 10% Roussette. Well-known producers are Maison Mollex and Clos de la Péclette.
