The winery is located in the municipality of Hohenwarth in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Weinviertel. The winery is rich in tradition and dates back to 1705. Today, it is run by Hans and Uli Setzer, both of whom are viticultural engineers and graduates of the viticultural school Klosterneuburg. The estate's own vineyards cover 15 hectares of vineyards, and grapes from a further 15 hectares are purchased from contract winegrowers.

They are all located within a radius of two km from the winery at the foot of the Manhartsberg at 365 m above sea level. The best vineyards are Eichholz (light loess soil with very high lime content), Kreimelberg (up to 30 m deep gravel soil) and Laa (sandy brown earth with very high lime content). The white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Roter Veltliner, Pinot Blanc and Riesling, as well as the red wine varieties Zweigelt and Merlot are processed to 85%. Despite very low rainfall, there is no artificial irrigation, so the vines have to be deeply rooted.

For new plantings, rootstocks are imported from France and grafted with self-selected noble eyes from our own 30-year-old plants. These new vines are then planted with a very high stock density of up to 8,000 vines per hectare (normally about 3,000). Due to a lower per-stock load, a longer lifespan of up to 60 years is achieved in the sandy soils.

Natural viticulture is practised with complete abandonment of chemical fertilisers and herbicides. The love of the house belongs to Grüner Veltliner. This is marketed as Weinviertel DAC with various additional designations. The flagship of the house is "Weinviertel DAC 8000". Bottle-fermented sparkling wine is also produced. The wines are exported to more than 15 countries worldwide, including the USA. The winery is a member of the Association of Premium Wine Estates Weinviertel.
