Wine-law term for a certain residual sugar content in wine, used in the corresponding language in the EU countries (e.g. "semidulce" in Spain, "medium sweet" in England or "meio doce" in Portugal). Since Austria's accession to the EU in 1995, the German term "halbsüß" (semi-sweet), which had been used until then, is no longer permissible; instead, the term "lieblich" (sweet) is used (as it has always been in Germany). See all flavours under sugar content.
