The winery is located in the municipality of Platt in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Weinviertel. It has been managed by Wolfgang Seher since 2001. The vineyards cover 12.5 hectares in the Faustberg, Hausweingarten, Leithen and Sandberg vineyards (Platt), as well as Atschbach, Breiten, Hochbergen, Langviertel, Nussberg and Satz (Obermarkersdorf). They are 60% planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Sauvignon Bl anc,Pinot Blanc, Gelber Muskateller and Frühroter Veltliner, and 40% with the red wine varieties Zweigelt, Blauer Portugieser, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Blauburger. In the vineyards, natural, environmentally friendly viticulture is practised with cover crop and the use of pesticides is limited to the necessary minimum. Quality criteria are greatly reduced yields, high physiological ripeness of the grapes and selective manual harvesting. The grapes are processed gently, partly with whole bunch pressing. The white wines are fermented and matured at controlled temperatures in stainless steel. The red wines are fermented in stainless steel tanks and mature in stainless steel and barrique after biological acid reduction. The premium wines include, for example, Grüner Veltliner Nussberg, Grüner Veltliner Sandberg, the Grüner Veltliner Feuerberg Reserve named after the highest elevation of the Manhartsberg, as well as the red wine cuvées "Vertigo" (Portugieser, Blauburger, Zweigelt) A Frizzante is also produced. The winery is a member of Weingüter Retzer Land.
For me, Lexicon from wein.plus is the most comprehensive and best source of information about wine currently available.
