Schnürlwein

Unofficial name used in Austria for a wine made from dried grapes. The name is derived from the method of production. The grapes are harvested when fully ripe, tied to strings (dialectally "Schnürl") and dried. With a must weight of at least 25 °KMW (125 °Oe) and a drying time of at least three months, this corresponds to the official predicate level straw wine.
