The winery is located in the municipality of Röschitz in the west of the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Weinviertel. The traditional family business has been growing grapes for many generations. It is managed by Gerald Schneider, who, after graduating from the viticulture school in Krems and years of apprenticeship at other wineries in Austria and abroad, now concentrates fully on his own winemaking. The vineyards cover nine hectares of vineyards in the Galgenberg, Hundspoint (pictured), Königsberg and Reipersberg vineyards on loess and primary rock soils. 80% of the vineyards are planted with the leading variety Grüner Veltliner, as well as Riesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Blanc. Natural, environmentally friendly viticulture is consistently practised, for example with green manure. Quality criteria are short pruning, intensive foliage care, yield reduction and high-quality healthy grape material.
I have great respect for the scope and quality of the wein.plus encyclopaedia. It is a unique place to go for crisp, sound information on terms from the world of wine.
