The winery is located in the municipality of Weißenkirchen in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Wachau. The traditional winery was taken over in 1979 by Anton Schneeweiss in the third generation. The vineyards cover five hectares in the Achleiten, Lichtgartl, Ritzling, Steinriegel and Vorder Seiber vineyards. They are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Gelber Muskateller, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Rivaner (Müller-Thurgau), as well as Zweigelt. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand from the beginning of October to the end of November in several passes. The grapes are not left to settle and the must is not sulphurised. The must, which is strongly degerminated, is fermented with pure yeasts in steel tanks until fermentation stops and bottled by May. The premium wines include Grüner Veltliner Smaragd, Riesling Smaragd and Chardonnay. The winery is a member of Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus.
Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
