The winery is located in the municipality of Gols (Neubaugasse 29) in the Burgenland wine-growing region of Neusiedlersee (Austria). In 1995, the two brothers Horst and Georg Schmelzer, who were trained as winemakers and cellar masters, took over their parents' business. They also expanded the customer base on an international level. The vineyards cover 12 hectares in the Altenberg, Bless, Goldberg, Satz, Ungerberg, Wiesäcker and Zwergäcker vineyards. They are 65% planted with the white varieties Welschriesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Gris, Neuburger, Gewürztraminer, Riesling and Muskat-Ottonel, and 35% with the red varieties Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch, St. Laurent and Cabernet Sauvignon. The red wines are traditionally aged in wooden barrels or barriques and mature for 10 to 18 months, depending on the quality. The premium wines include sweet wines such as Ausbruch, Trockenbeerenauslese and (also as red wine from Blaufränkisch) Eiswein, the cuvée "Barcaso" (Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon, Blaufränkisch), Cabernet Sauvignon and Blauer Zweigelt. The winery is a member of the Select Gols winegrowers' association.
