The "Privat-Weingut Hartmut Schlumberger" is located in the municipality of Sulzburg-Laufen (Markgräflerland area) in the German wine-growing region of Baden. The traditional family has been involved in winegrowing for over 500 years. A holiday flat is attached. The farm is run by Claudia Schlumberger-Bernhart and Ulrich Bernhart. The vineyards cover nine hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Altenberg and Weingarten (Laufen) as well as the cadastral site Muggardter Berg (Britzingen). They are planted with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as with the white wine varieties Pinot Blanc, Chasselas, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Auxerrois, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyards are cultivated according to the rules of organic viticulture; the controls are carried out by the "Kontrollverein ökologischer Landbau". This includes, among other things, cover crop through regular sowing, renunciation of chemical-synthetic fungicides and control of the grape berry moth by means of the confusion method.

Yields are significantly reduced - between 70 and 90 hl/ha for Chasselas and between 30 and 60 hl/ha on average for the Burgundy varieties (90 hl/ha is permitted by wine law). Only organic wines are produced. Fermentation takes place partly in old oak barrels, some of which were made by the grandfather himself in the first third of the 20th century. The wines marketed at Grosses Gewächs are Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir Winerte; the first-vineyard wines are Riesling and Chardonnay from the Muggardter Berg, as well as Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir Altenberg. Fine brandies (yeast, spent grains, fruit) and bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced. The winery is a member of the "Beratungsdienst ökologischer Weinbau" and has been a member of the VDP since 2006.

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
