single vineyard in the municipality of Burkheim (Kaiserstuhl area) in the German wine-growing region of Baden. It is located on the western edge of the "Burkheim Castle", which has only existed as a ruin since 1762. The first vineyards are mentioned as early as the Frankish period around 750 in the course of the establishment of terraced vineyards. The vineyards, which are partly terraced from west to east with slopes of 0 to 35%, cover 58 hectares of vineyards. A hollow is formed in the lower area to protect against winds. The Villinger parcel is a prime example. The soils consist of volcanic weathered bedrock composed of lavas and tuffs, overlaid with loess. These have a good water retention capacity. The Pinot varieties vineyards are cultivated here in particular. Members of the Burkheimer Winzer am Kaiserstuhl cooperative and the Bercher winery, for example, have shares in the site.
The Wine lexicon helps me to keep up to date and refresh my knowledge. Thank you for this Lexicon that will never end in terms of topicality! That's what makes it so exciting to come back often.
