The winery is located in the municipality of Sommerhausen (Maindreieck area) in the German wine-growing region of Franconia. It was founded as early as 1435 by Schenk Konrad IV von Limpurg (1396-1482). As the "Kellerey" of the hereditary donors of the Holy Roman Empire, the coronation wines of German kings and emperors were produced here for centuries. The Steinmann family acquired the old castle estate in 1968 and renovated it true to the original. The roots of the family go back to 1537. Built in 1435, the castle mainly serves as a picturesque backdrop for festivities of all kinds. Wine production has moved to a newly built cellar building on the outskirts of the village. Today, the farm is run by Martin Steinmann, the 15th generation.
