The winery is located in the municipality of Ortenberg in the Käfersberg district (Ortenau area) in the German wine-growing region of Baden. It is named after the castle complex, which was rebuilt between 1838 and 1843, but which only gives its name. A youth hostel has been set up in the castle, which lies in the middle of the winery grounds. The winery only came into being in 1997 through a merger of the St. Andreas Hospital for the Sick and Poor, founded in 1300 and owned by the town of Offenburg, and the Schloss Ortenberg experimental winery, which belonged to the Ortenau district. The administrator and managing director is Matthias Wolf BA, and Hans-Peter Rieflin is the cellar master.
