Schlatter

The winery "Hans Schlatter Weinbau & Kellerei AG" in the town of Hallau in the Swiss canton of Schaffhausen was founded in 1890 by Georg Schlatter (1857-1941). The family business has been run by Stefan Schlatter, the fourth generation of the Schlatter family since 1989, with the support of his father Hans. The company's own vineyards cover 14 hectares, which are cultivated according to strict ecological guidelines of integrated production (KIP). Grapes are purchased from around one hundred contract winegrowers. Wines are produced from Pinot Noir, Riesling x Sylvaner (Müller-Thurgau), Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, Räuschling, Regent and Pinot Blanc. The flagship of the house is "16-Fahne-Wy", a late harvest from Pinot Noir. Typical wines are marketed under the label "Terra Florales". About 300,000 litres of wine are produced annually. Distillates such as Grappa and Marc (marc spirits) are also produced.
