The Schäfer-Fröhlich winery is located in the municipality of Bockenau in the German wine-growing region of Nahe. It has been run by Hans and Karin Fröhlich in the fifth family generation since the early 1970s. Since 1996, their son Tim has been responsible for the vinification. The vineyards cover 21 hectares in the single vineyard sites Felseneck and Stromberg (Bockenau), Frühlingsplätzchen and Halenberg (Monzingen), as well as Felsenberg and Kupfergrube (Schlossböckelheim). They are planted with 85% Riesling and 15% Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. The low-yield grapes are selectively harvested by hand. The wines are fermented spontaneously in stainless steel tanks and matured according to the typical characteristics of the vineyard. The product range includes estate wines, local wines and wines from VDP.Grosse Lage according to the VDP classification. The winery has been a member of the VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates) since 2001.
